AI content labelling and copyright clearance

You're not sure whether to label the work as AI-generated, or whether the novel, music, voice and likeness can be used commercially.

Why it happens
  • A novel or web serial is adapted without rights, with only the names changed.
  • A real person's voice is cloned, or a celebrity's or influencer's face is generated.
  • Nobody read the commercial-use terms of the model, music library or stock site.
  • The AI-content labelling rules of the platform and your jurisdiction are unknown.
How to fix it
Before production, list every source (script, images, voice, music, likeness) and confirm the licence scope of each.
When adapting, rebuild the relationships, conflict mechanism and key events; a paraphrase isn't enough.
Don't generate recognisable real faces or clone any voice without written permission.
Read the terms of each model and asset library, confirm commercial use, and keep dated screenshots.
Add AI-generated labels as the platform requires; the platform's and regulator's official pages are the authority on the rules.
Prevent it next time:Keep a licence log with the project files, and keep any asset you can't clear out of commercial work.
